Walsall Head Coach Michael Flynn has spoken to the press and admitted he is still hoping to secure the signature of on-loan striker Danny Johnson.
Johnson, who is due to return to his parent club over the next few days, has formed a crucial part of the team so far this season, with co-chairman Ben Boycott recently visiting WS1 in a bid to thrash out a permanent deal.
The club had initially hoped to land Johnson on a permanent basis last summer but were scuppered by a last-minute change of heart at Manfield Town forced the Saddlers to accept a short-term loan with a view to returning to the negotiating table at a later date.
Danny netted his fifteenth goal of the season away to Tranmere Rovers on Saturday afternoon and Flynn, who recently added Forest Green striker Jamille Matt to his squad, is still hoping a deal can be done.
Speaking to Express & Star reporter Paul Jenkins, Flynn said; "We are doing everything we can, from the point of view of the football staff to the owners to make sure Danny stays with us but we will have to see."
