Walsall boss Michael Flynn has heaped praise upon his players following their Emirates FA Cup - Fourth Round defeat to Leicester City, with the gaffer believing a Saddlers goal could have changed the complexion of the contest.
After seeing the Saddlers exit the competition following Kelechi Iheanacho's deflected second-half strike, Flynn admitted the visitors could have had more goals, but believes his team acquitted themselves well and were never out of the game.
Brendan Rodgers' side were thwarted for the whole of the first-half but saw a chance go begging in the early stages of the second forty-five as Youri Tielemans sent a penalty onto the bottom of the post before Iheanacho netted later in the half.
Whilst his team couldn't find the back of the net themselves, Flynn was pleased with their overall display and also sought to praise goalkeeper Owen Evans, who pulled off several fine saves to deny Premier League opposition.
Speaking to the assembled media, including the Express & Star, Michael said; "I know Leicester could have probably had a few more particularly later on, and missed the penalty but I do feel if one of our chances had just gone in somehow it could have changed the outcome.
"But it was a great occasion, for the fans who packed the place out, for the owners and the players who got the chance to play a Premier League team and acquitted themselves well.
"I thought Owen was outstanding in goal, he was unlucky with the deflection for the goal but made some great saves.
"He could play at a higher level, along with a few of the squad and I think they proved that today.
"Brendan Rodgers was very complimentary about us and said we played some good stuff, that is great coming from someone I have a lot of respect for as a manager and a person."
