Walsall returned to action on Tuesday evening as they made the trip to Greater Manchester and took on Salford City in their latest Sky Bet League Two outing of the 2022/23 campaign.
The home side started the game brightly and went on to open the scoring with just five minutes on the clock as Matt Smith rose highest to send the ball off the post and into the back of the Walsall net, the effort proving to be all that was required to take all three points.
