Walsall boss Michael Flynn has admitted he is unsure where on-loan Cambridge United defender Liam Bennett's future lies amidst rumours of a return to his parent club.
Bennett has formed a crucial part of the Saddlers' backline since arriving on a season-long loan in the summer, with the right-sided 21-year-old making twenty-five first-team appearances.
Despite modern loan rules banning parent clubs from recalling players during the window in which they were sent out, they are often able to recall in the subsequent window, an option Cambridge boss Mark Bonner recently admitted he is keen to explore.
However, speaking shortly after Thursday's disappointing 2-0 defeat to Stockport County, Saddlers Head Coach Flynn insisted he hasn't heard anything about a potential recall, before confirming he is expecting to learn more later today.
Speaking to Express & Star journalist Paul Jenkins, Flynn said; "I haven't heard anything though I am expecting to tomorrow (Friday) - it will be a shame if we lose him he has been great for us, a model professional, and has performed well but we will have to see."
