Walsall Head Coach Michael Flynn has spoken of his delight after seeing his side secure a place in the Second Round of the FA Cup with a comfortable two-nil triumph over Wycombe Wanderers.
Flynn, who had seen midfielders Jacob Maddox and Isaac Hutchinson hit the back of the net during what turned out to be a dream awayday in the world's oldest domestic cup competition, was pleased to see his tactical switch pay off.
The gaffer had opted to utilize a box formation, which saw the home side often unable to get the ball into advanced positions as their opponents, the Saddlers, made the most of at least two of their attacking moves.
Speaking to the assembled media, including the Express & Star, Michael said; "That was as good an away performance from a League Two side that you will see and it could have been more.
"It was a nice finish from Jacob and their goalkeeper made a good save from him just before that when he closed the angle down well.
"We played a box formation in midfield which worked well and gave them problems - I don't think they expected that but it meant we were never short of someone to cover or assist with or without the ball.
"That was a big part of us winning the game today along with the good defending, sticking with our men, and the general hard work because that was needed coming to a higher-level team."
