Walsall Head Coach Michael Flynn has confirmed that he and club officials have entered into dialogue with Manfield Town in a bid to thrash out the future of on-loan striker, Danny Johnson.
Johnson, who joined the Saddlers on a six-month loan in the summer, has netted ten goals in all competitions and is seen as a big part of the immediate future of the club.
With his stay in WS1 edging ever closer to the end, Flynn and members of the club's boardroom have spoken to Stags officials with a view to either extending DJ's loan or signing him on a permanent basis.
However, after the club initially agreed to a permanent deal in the summer before Mansfield's owner changed his mind, they'll have to wait until we near the opening of the winter Transfer Window before learning which way the proposed deal will go.
Flynn, who was speaking to the Express & Star ahead of his side's one-all draw with Sutton United on Saturday afternoon, said; "I’ve spoken to Mansfield, the chairman’s spoken to Mansfield as well.
"We’re not going to know definitely until closer to it, it’s as simple as that.
"It’s not through a lack of trying, the dialogue has started a few weeks ago, we are on it and we’ve just got to be patient."
