Tuesday evening saw the Saddlers play host to Colchester United as Michael Flynn's Reds looked to end an increasingly worrying winless run.
However, after entering what the Head Coach called the worst first-half performance since he took charge, the Saddlers looked to be heading to what would have been a fourth straight defeat, in all competitions.
However, after entering what the Head Coach called the worst first-half performance since he took charge, the Saddlers looked to be heading to what would have been a fourth straight defeat, in all competitions.
But that wasn't the case as, after making a double half-time change, the Saddlers went on to win the second half - the visitors had put themselves ahead via Frank Nouble's second-minute strike - as Tom Knowles netted his first goal since making the move to the Midlands.
Whilst the second-half surge didn't result in a return to winning ways - Walsall continuing their poor performance in the final third - it did provide us with our first glimpse of recent arrival Jacob Maddox.
The midfielder, who arrived at the club alongside Jonas Mukuna shortly after Deadline Day, entered a Man of the Match winning performance after replacing Brandon Comley at the break and showed plenty of desire to take the game by the scruff of the neck.
And, whilst many fans would have expected fellow loanee Liam Bennett to take the MotM award, the on-loan Cambridge United defender continuing his superb spell of form - it's promising to see a debutant able to settle in so quickly, even if the end result saw just a point secured.
