The Club has confirmed that young attacking midfielder Ronan Maher has put pen to part on his first professional contract, which will keep him at the club until at least the summer of 2025.
17-year-old Maher made his professional debut against Hartlepool United on the opening day of the 2022/23 season, coming off the bench in a 4-0 win.
He also featured against Swindon Town in the Carabao Cup, winning the penalty that led to the first goal, before his most recent appearance against Barrow.
Maher came through the ranks here at the Poundland Bescot Stadium, joining the club as an 11-year-old. His first involvement with the senior squad came in July 2021 when he played against Premier League outfit Crystal Palace in a pre-season friendly.
Ronan enjoyed a prolific season with the Under 18s and finished as their top scorer in 2021/22 and was called up to the first team again this summer, remaining with the senior group ever since.
He was also invited to the Republic of Ireland U19s training camp earlier this month.
Saddlers Head Coach Michael Flynn has spoken to club journalists and welcomed the news, insisting he is keen to see the youngster continuing to improve.
Speaking via the club's official website, Flynn said; "The hard work starts now for him. He’s a smashing kid, I’ve got a lot of time for him, nothing fazes him and he takes it all in his stride.
"He’s confident but not arrogant and he’s got ability. He’s got to keep grounded, level-headed and work even harder than he has been and I’m sure he will."
