After failing to win any of their last four games in all competitions, including a midweek Carabao Cup defeat to Charlton Athletic, the Saddlers returned to action on Saturday afternoon as they played host to Grimsby Town in Sky Bet League Two.
Walsall started the game brightly and wasted no time in taking the lead as on-loan Manfield man Danny Johnson netted his seventh goal of the season, a truly superb start to the season for the well-travelled attacker.
Sadly for the Saddlers, their lead didn't last for the entire game as, after failing to make better use of goal-scoring opportunities and falling further and further back into their own half, they were rightfully punished as Harry Clifton opened his account for the season to level the scores.
The visitors weren't finished there as Clifton soon grabbed his second of the season, putting his side into the lead, another lesson for the Saddlers as they have to begin to make better use of their openings.
