Walsall are believed to have taken former Crystal Palace midfielder Sion Spence on trial as Head Coach Michael Flynn looks to add to his squad for the 2022/23 campaign.

• MIDFIELDER WOULD HAVE PLENTY OF COMPETITION FOR A PLACE IN THE TEAM
• WALSALL STILL SEARCHING FOR ATTACKING OPTIONS
21-year-old Spence is a free agent after leaving Palace at the end of last season and is among a small group of players - including former Fulham man Timmy Abraham - seeking to earn a deal in WS1 ahead of the new campaign.
Sion, a product of Cardiff City's youth system who left the Bluebirds for Selhurst Park in 2020, spent much of last season on-loan with Bristol Rovers where he made his league debut, coming on as a substitute against the Saddlers.
Spence, who has represented Wales at various levels including Under-16, Under-18, and Under-21, would add much-needed strength to Walsall's midfield as Head Coach Flynn looks to mount a challenge on the upper reaches of the League Two table.
