Walsall have confirmed the signing of Carlisle United defender Joe Riley, who becomes the fourth new arrival of the summer and will link up with the club when his current deal expires at the end of the month.
25-year-old Riley, who is a product of the Manchester United youth system, was due to be out of contract at the end of this month and was keen to move to the Poundland Bescot Stadium following positive discussions with club officials.
Riley, who plays at right-back as well as right-sided midfield, has amassed five goals and six assists over eighty-four appearances for the Cumbrians, with the Blackpool-born man also making a handful of appearances for Sheffield United and Bradford City before moving to Carlisle in the summer of 2020.
Saddlers Head Coach Michael Flynn spoke to club journalists and welcomed his latest signing, he said; "Joe is an exciting player.
"He came through at Manchester United and he’s getting better and better. He’s at a great age, 25 and I’m really excited to be working with Joe.
"He’s definitely one who can make his mark on Walsall Football Club and on the league next season."
