According to recent media reports, Walsall are set to complete the permanent signing of Cheltenham Town goalkeeper Owen Evans.
25-year-old Evans was the Robins' first choice 'keeper for much of last season, as he started twenty-seven of their forty-six games in League One before being replaced between the sticks by Scott Flinders.
The Newport-born stopper first joined Cheltenham on loan from Wigan Athletic in January 2020 after Flinders, who has since joined Mansfield Town, suffered a broken leg.
Spending the first half of the campaign with Macclesfield Town, Evans started eleven league matches and along with the Robins' Play-Off semi-finals against Northampton Town, even saving a penalty during the first leg.
He then returned to Wigan for the 2020/21 season but made only one league appearance for the Latics before returning to Cheltenham last summer, signing a two-year deal.
