Walsall defender Oisin McEntee has taken to social media to offer an update on his current injury status.
21-year-old McEntee, who agreed to join the Saddlers after being named among a group of players released by Eddie Howe's Newcastle United, suffered a dislocated shoulder during the Republic of Ireland Under-21s recent 3-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina U21s.

Ultimately replaced by Crystal Palace defender Jake O'Brien, Oisin is likely to miss the whole of the Saddlers' shortened pre-season campaign, with the former Magpie battling to be fit for the start of the season.
Speaking via his official Instagram page, the right-sided defender, who is one of eleven players to arrive at Poundland Bescot Stadium since the 2021/22 campaign came to an end, confirmed he has undergone successful surgery as he takes his first steps on the road to recovery.
"Operation was a success, thanks for all the messages! [the] road to recovery starts now."

There is currently no timeline for Oisin's return, but he is likely to miss a good portion of the opening few months of the season as he adds to the already well-stocked injury list in WS1, with the likes of Joss Labadie, Rory Holden, and Conor Wilkinson already keeping the medical department busy.
