Walsall Head Coach Michael Flynn has spoken to members of the local press and offered an update on the injury status of midfielder Liam Kinsella, admitting that the current longest-serving player is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Kinsella, who has made thirty-three first-team appearances so far this season, limped off during Saturday's defeat to Rochdale with what is suspected to be a season-ending hamstring injury.
Kinsella, who has made thirty-three first-team appearances so far this season, limped off during Saturday's defeat to Rochdale with what is suspected to be a season-ending hamstring injury.
Replaced by Sam Perry with just twenty-five minutes of the first-half played, Kinsella was unable to deny the Dale their match-winning goal as Conor Grant took advantage of some more sloppy defending to seal three welcome points for his side.
Speaking via the Express & Star, amongst others, Flynn, admitted; "Liam was his hamstring."
The Saddlers also suffered injuries to goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, who pulled out moments before the match got underway, and forward Conor Wilkinson, who was forced off after Flynn had already made three changes.
Continuing to offer an injury update, Flynn confirmed; "Conor we're hoping is just impact. Carl has jarred his shoulder during the warm-up."
The manager, who had earlier criticised some of his players for what he called a lack of desire, sought to clarify his comments, he said; he continued; "When I say people don't care, I'll take Liam completely out of that. Let's be clear. He gives his heart and soul and there's some we know who care.
"Liam is probably going to be out for the season as we've only got a few weeks left now. It's a difficult one because he's been good for me."
