Walsall boss Michael Flynn has spoekn to the local press and admitted he is stunned by some of the wages being requested as he prepares for a busy summer of change in WS1.

Flynn, who successfully guided the Saddlers away from the drop zone well before the final few weeks of the campaign, is expected to undertake an almost complete overhaul of his squad over the summer but is already being hampered by wage demands.

The former Newport County man went on to insist that, though he will need to add a significant number of players, he is only looking to sign those who will commit to the club and wear the shirt with pride.

Speaking via the Express & Star, ahead of last weekend's win over Port Vale, Flynn said; "These last few days I’ve been trying to work on players and line-up targets for next season.

"Some of the figures being banded around by agents at the minute, and players because they’re not blameless, is absolutely ludicrous.

"It’s almost laughable, but it’s not, because these people think they will get these wages in League Two.

"There’s only a couple that will go above and beyond. The likes of Stockport and Wrexham, if they come up, that will be a game-changer in terms of what they can do to the likes of us because of their financial clout.

"I want players to want to be at this football club and are proud to wear the shirt. I’m working on it and trying to get the right people in."
