Going into the match on the back of a duo of draws, the Saddlers were looking to return to winning ways as they welcomed promotion-chasing Sutton United to Banks's Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The match got off to a slow start with neither side able to take charge of the contest for much of the opening forty-five.
However, with around twelve minutes of the first-half remaining, the Saddlers were gifted an opportunity to go into the lead as they were awarded a rather generous penalty as Conor Wilkinson adjudged to have been felled inside the area.
Only too happy to oblige, Conor regained his composure before slamming the ball past veteran goalkeeper Stuart Nelson, to put the Reds one-nil ahead.
