Walsall Under-18s returned to action on Saturday morning as they travelled to Shrewsbury Sports Village and took on Shrewsbury Town in their latest EFL Youth Alliance outing of the season.
After holding Port Vale to a goalless draw last weekend, Ben King's bottom-laced side were looking to go one better and take three welcome points as they took on the Shrews, who sat comfortably in mid-table ahead of kick-off.
However, it wasn't to be on the day as goals from Charlie Caton, Louis Lloyd, Kade Craig, and Jamie Spiers, who netted a brace, were more than enough to see the young Shrews home to a comfortable victory.
Walsall are still seeking a new manager following the departure of Miguel Llera, and whoever does take the helm has their work cut out as the team is in need of a complete overhaul as they have endured a dismal 2021/22 campaign.
