According to recent media reports, Walsall are on the verge of signing former Cardiff City forward Lee Tomlin, as Head Coach Michael Flynn looks to increase his attacking options.
Leicester-born Tomlin, a free agent after being released by Cardiff in October 2021, is believed to have trained with Wrexham and Walsall over recent weeks, as well as visiting a boot camp in Dubai, in a bid to boost his fitness as he looks for a new club.
Beginning his career with youth stints at hometown club Leicester and Rushden & Diamonds, Tomlin's professional breakthrough came with the Diamonds, where he would go on to make over 150 league appearances.
After joining Peterborough United in the summer of 2010 Lee went on to make over 135 first-team appearances before enjoying stints at Middlesbrough, Bournemouth and Bristol City before joining Cardiff City in 2017.
33-year-old Tomlin has made over fifty first-team appearances for Cardiff and also enjoyed loan spells with Nottingham Forest and the Posh before leaving the Cardiff City Stadium late last year.
