Following the news that he'd penned a deal until the end of the season, new arrival Lee Tomlin has spoken to club journalists and welcomed the opportunity to link up with the Saddlers.

Lee, who has a free agent after leaving Cardiff City in October last year, has spent the last few months building his fitness with training stints at Wrexham and Northampton Town, as well as the Saddlers, and is happy to have the chance to play football once again.

With 570 first-team appearances to his name, Lee offers plenty of experience to the Saddlers' frontline and, if he can stay fit, should add much-needed firepower to the club's less-than-potent attacking line.

Speaking via the club's official website, Lee said; "I’m happy to be here. I had a phone call from the Head Coach when he got the job asking if I’d like to come in.

"I remember the first day I first came in I enjoyed training, I enjoyed being around the lads and that’s all I want to do – enjoy football again.

"I’ve had a few months out now, got myself fit again so hopefully I can kick on and do my best for Walsall."
