Walsall winger Brendan Kiernan has spoken to the press ahead of Tuesday evening's League Two meeting with bottom-of-the-table Scunthorpe United, and welcomed the potential return of defender Manny Monthé.
27-year-old Monthé has missed the Saddlers' last seven games after he was found to have used ‘abusive and/or insulting language’ in a game against Forest Green Rovers last May, could return to the starting line-up against the Iron, and, according to Kiernan, not before time.
Despite the Saddlers backline struggling to protect a clean sheet for much of the season, defender Manny and Rollin Menayese had begun to form a strong partnership before Monthé's suspension, and Kiernan is hoping the duo can pick up where they left off when they eventually reunite.
Speaking via the Express & Star, Brendan said; "I haven’t seen him sweat as much, probably. He’s been working hard to get back in. He’s being doing a little bit extra as well.

"He looks ready, he looks hungry. When you don’t play football for that amount of time, you’re going to do whatever you can to get back on the pitch.
"From the start of the season, you saw how he was such a big key in us getting some major clean sheets.
"He’s been missed. Someone like Manny coming back, it’s almost like having a new player coming in."
