Walsall Head Coach Matthew Taylor has spoken to the local media following the Saddlers' three-nil triumph over Colchester United, and insisted his players are 'desperate to succeed'.

After struggling to put games to bed over recent weeks, the Saddlers easily dispatched with Colchester as an Otis Khan brace, his first goals since joining the club, and a Jack Earing solo strike, earned a welcome win at the Banks's.

Taylor, who has guided his team back into the top half of the table, went on to admit he wants his players to take risks before insisting there is more to come from the current crop.

Speaking to the assembled media, Matthew said; "The players are desperate to succeed. They've come here to be part of something successful. Players taking risks, making passes that are risky, that's what I want.

"I really want that element to us. I want us to enjoy our football, knowing if we do give it away that we're in the right position to make sure it doesn't hurt us. I think there's far more to come from this group.

"We're five points short of where we should be. We've given goals away this season we shouldn't have, and haven't been ruthless enough. I'm pleased, but there's still so much more to come from this group of players."
