The Saddlers have seen a trio of games called off over the festive period as meetings with - all fell victim to the COVID-19 pandemic and, whilst this weekend's game sis currently scheduled to go ahead, they have sought to keep fans up to date.
Issued via their official website, the statement reads; We would like to provide supporters with an update on our upcoming fixture against Newport County on New Year’s Day.
As the situation currently stands, and having been liaising with our friends at Newport County and the EFL in recent days, the fixture is planned to go ahead.
However, with clubs completing mandatory EFL daily testing of players, the situation remains fluid. If there are any further developments, we will inform supporters as soon as possible.
Walsall Football Club will be doing all that we can to ensure the game goes ahead, and we look forward to welcoming you all to the Banks's Stadium for the first game of 2022. Your support, as always, will be vital.
