Walsall's on-loan Leicester City winger Tyrese Shade has spoken to club journalists and discussed his delight after he scored the winning goal against Sutton United last weekend.

21-year-old Shade came off the bench and unleashed a superb free-kick, his second goal of the season, to secure all three points and help the Saddlers complete an unbeaten month of October.

Shade, who has quickly become a fan favourite at the Banks's, admitted he likes to score goals and is keen to add to his tally as he and his temporary team look to continue their steady climb up the table.

Speaking via the club's official website, Tyrese said; "I’m a player who likes to score goals. I haven’t got as many as I wanted this season, so when I saw that go in, I was well happy.

"Normally the boys want me to smash it, but I saw the wall, and I was always going to bend it round. I like to take a few in training, I normally smash it far keeper’s side, but I wrapped it round the wall."

With the win keeping the Saddlers' unbeaten run alive, Shade went on to speak about what went into the victory at Gander Green Lane, with the winger keen to keep the run going and end 2021 on a high.

Tyrese continued; "I’m ecstatic because we’ve narrowly been missing out on the three points but every game we’ve been trying to build, and I’m glad we came away with that.

"They’re a team that like to put it in our box and fight, but we were very solid. I applaud the boys, the defence especially because anything that came their way was cleared, so I’m really happy.

"We know how good we are, and it’s just starting to show, so hopefully we can keep on climbing and finish strong come the end of the year."
