Walsall Football Club has posted a statement in response to the news that the FA's Disciplinary Panel has issued a charge against defender Manny Monthé for an incident which took place during his time with Tranmere Rovers.
Monthé, who has made ten first-team appearances since joining the Saddlers in the summer, is alleged to have breached FA Rule E3.1, with the breach constituting an "Aggravated Breach", which is defined in FA Rule E3.2, as the language included a reference, whether express or implied, to sexual orientation.

Earlier, the FA issued a statement confirming the charge and giving the defender until Thursday, 21st October to respond.
Released via an official Football Association Twitter account, their post reads; "Emmanuel Monthé has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3 following the EFL League Two fixture between Forest Green Rovers and Tranmere Rovers on Saturday, 1st May 2021."
The FA's statement continues; "It is alleged that the former Tranmere Rovers defender, who currently represents Walsall, used abusive and/or insulting language during the 9th minute of the fixture contrary to FA Rule E3.1, and that this constitutes an "Aggravated Breach", which is defined in FA Rule E3.2, as the language included a reference, whether express or implied, to sexual orientation. He has until Thursday, 21st October 2021 to provide a response."
Shortly after the news became public, Walsall FC released a statement, confirming the charge had been received before further confirming that Manny 'vehemently' denies the allegation.

"The alleged incident took place during Manny’s time at Tranmere Rovers; prior to his arrival at the Banks’s Stadium in July 2021.
"Monthé vehemently denies the allegations and is looking forward to cooperating fully with the FA in order to clear his name as quickly as possible by following the correct process.
"The club or player will be making no further comment at this stage."
