Matthew Taylor's Walsall were looking to make it three unbeaten as they welcomed Mansfield Town to the Banks's on Saturday afternoon.
The Stags had suffered three consecutive defeats in the league and were taking on a Saddlers team which was seemingly finding its feet following a slow start to the 2021/22 campaign.
Walsall enjoyed a dream start to the game as on-loan Barnsley forward George Miller opened his goal-scoring account with a well-taken finish following Kieran Phillips' superb ball over the top.
The Saddlers went on to double their lead midway through the first-half as defender Ash Taylor rose highest to powerfully head Jack Earing's corner ball into the back of the Stags net.
Walsall were able to further extend their lead just a couple of minutes into the second-half, as George Miller grabbed his second of the game by taking advantage of yet more poor defending to slip the ball home.
Mansfield grabbed a consolation goal with six-minutes of normal time remaining, as second-half substitute Danny Johnson slammed the ball home from close range. A disappointing goal to concede for the 'keeper as his clean-sheet disappears.
