Arriving at the match on the back of last weekend's welcome win over Mansfield Town, Matthew Taylor's Saddlers were looking to make it three wins in four as they took on Brighton & Hove Albion U23s in their opening EFL Trophy fixture of the season.
After spending much of the opening stages of the match on the back foot, the Saddlers grew into the game and went on to take the lead as on-loan Huddersfield Town forward Kieran Phillips was on hand to prod the ball home following a poorly dealt with free kick.
