The Saddlers arrived at the match in search of their first win of the 2021/22 campaign, having failed to win any of their five all-competition games, including last weekend’s clash with recently-promoted Hartlepool United.
The Saddlers started the match in style as summer signing Conor Wilkinson grabbed his first goal of the season with just five minutes on the clock. A superb display of strength and composure as Walsall took the lead.
Despite the Saddlers entering a poor second-half display, the visitors were unable to grab a goal of their own as Matt Taylor's side secured their first win of the 2021/22 campaign.
