Heading into the match on the back of a trio of defeats, which includes a Carabao Cup defeat to Doncaster Rovers, the Saddlers were looking to earn their first win of the 2021/22 campaign.
Following a goalless first forty-five, the Saddlers started the second-half brightly and took the lead with just two minutes in the clock as on-loan Huddersfield Town forward Kieran Phillips grabbed his first goal in a Walsall shirt.
Walsall were dealt a cruel blow just before the match entered added on time at the end of the second half as Alfie Beestin was able to level the scores, denying the hosts their first win of the new season.
