Former Walsall goalkeeper Liam Roberts has thanked the club as he begins a new chapter of his career following his switch to Northampton Town.
The Walsall-born stopper spent over a decade with the Saddlers, rising through the ranks to make his first-team debut in early 2016, and is excited to take on the challenge of a new club.
After learning that he was unlikely to secure a starting spot in WS1, Roberts opted to make the move to Sixfields, insisting the time was right for a fresh start.
Speaking via the Cobblers' official website, Liam, who made almost 150 first-team appearances for his hometown club, said; "I’m over the moon to be here.

"I’d like to thank Walsall for making it a seamless transition, they have been incredible to me and my family over the years, but I felt like it was the right time for a fresh start.
"I wish Walsall all the best for the future, and they will always be a club close to my heart, but I’m here now with Northampton Town, and I’m here to succeed.
"I want to play as many games as I can and be the best I can be. I’m really looking forward to working with Dan Watson, he’s got great enthusiasm to strive to be the best and hopefully he can improve my game as well."
