Head Coach Brian Dutton has spoken to the media and offered an update in the injury status of attacking midfielder Rory Holden.
Holden, who missed Saturday's League Two defeat to Colchester United, made a major impact as soon as he returned from a recent injury layoff, including netting one of the Saddlers' two goals during the 2-1 win over Forest Green Rovers.
However, the former Bristol City man was substituted during the midweek triumph over Tranmere and is now set to see a specialist in order to gain a second opinion as to whether he has suffered a setback or is OK to continue.
Dutton said; "Rory Holden has come back to the team, it’s been long overdue but he’s never been quite comfortable with the injury.
"He still managed to get out there and give his all and you can see the impact he’s had. A not fully fit Holden has got this team two wins from two starts.
"He’s been in every game we’ve won this season bar one. Are we a one-man team? That’s debatable.
"With regards to his injury, he’s not comfortable with it and we’re going for another opinion on it on Monday to give him some reassurances that everything is fine and he can continue."
When asked if Holden will play again this season, the gaffer admitted it's too early to tell, before insisting the most important thing is securing safety with Rory being ready for the 2021/22 campaign.
Brian continued; "It’s not easy to say because I’m not medically qualified to make a judgement on that.
"The most important thing for Walsall is that it’s in the EFL next season and the most important thing for Rory Holden after that is that he’s fit for the beginning of next season."
