Walsall arrived at the match on the back of a disappointing defeat to Colchester United and in search of the points needed to secure a place in League Two for at least another campaign.
Sadly for the Saddlers it was the visitors who grabbed the opening goal of the game as Ian Henderson pounced upon a defensive error which saw goalkeeper Jack Rose's clearance cannon off the striker following Mat Sadler's poorly-weighted backpass, the forward then tapping into an empty net.
The visitors went on to double their lead twelve minutes into the second half as Jordan Turnbull slotted home from a cross. A disappointing evening for the Saddlers.
