Walsall Football Club have begun the search for a Director of Football as part of an apparent new direction undertaken by chairman Leigh Pomlett.
Described by the club's Chief Operating Officer Dan Mole as and 'exciting and strategic position', the advert, which is carried by the EFL's official website EFL.com, calls for the successful candidate to provide strategic direction, leadership, oversight and management of the Football Department – first-team and Academy – at a professional football club and help realise the Board’s philosophy/style of play.
Among the job duties are; Key Personnel Recruitment (such as Head Coach Recruitment) in conjunction with the Board of Directors, Working alongside key personnel, manage and implement the coaching programme across the first-team and Academy and more.
The club recently underwent a change of manager as Darrell Clarke moved to Port Vale with his former assistant Brian Dutton moving to the hot seat where he has struggled to reverse his team's fortunes, with the team winning just one of their last fourteen outings.

Job Purpose
Provide strategic direction, leadership, oversight and management of the Football Department – first-team and Academy – at a professional football club and help realise the Board’s philosophy/style of play.
Job Duties
Key Personnel Recruitment (such as Head Coach Recruitment) in conjunction with the Board of Directors
Realise and implement the Board’s football philosophy
Agent liaison and transfer policy in conjunction with the CEO
Training and mentoring of Head Coach
Working alongside key personnel, manage and implement the coaching programme across the first-team and Academy
Implement and oversee a scouting and recruitment department akin to a professional football club
Report effectively to the Board of Directors
Manage and deliver budgets set by the CEO
Deal with any Football Staff HR Issues
Organisational Responsibility
Reports to the Board of Directors
Responsible for the Football Department – first-team and Academy
Qualifications
UEFA Pro License
LMA Diploma in Football Management desirable
Experience
A background in professional football is key. A working knowledge and understanding of the game as both a player and a manager is desirable.
