Following the news that he'd joined the Saddlers on loan for the remainder of the season, Lincoln City left-back Max Melbourne has spoken of his delight as he looks to force his way into the reckoning at Banks's Stadium.
The 22-year-old has featured sixteen times in all competitions for the League One high-flyers so far this season, making twenty-seven overall appearances for the Imps having initially joined on loan in the summer of 2019 before making the move permanent a year ago.
Melbourne began his career at local rivals West Bromwich Albion, rising through their academy system before enjoying two loan spells in Scotland with Ross County and Partick Thistle respectively.
The defender, who was signed shortly after Zak Jules completed a Deadline Day move to Milton Keynes Dons, admitted he was pleased to join the club and can't wait to get started as the Reds look to build upon their recent victory over Port Vale.
Speaking via the club's official website, Max said; "I’m delighted to be joining Walsall for the remainder of the season. It’s a club I’ve known about for a long time from playing at West Brom for most of my career.
"I’m an athletic player who enjoys both defending and attacking. I’ve played at both left back and centre back so I’m familiar with the roles. So just starting and joining attacks is just as important as the clean sheet mentality.
"Lincoln have done very well as a team up to this point & I’ve learned a lot as a player this season and I’m looking to bring that strong form here and test myself in a different environment.
"On a personal note I’m looking to play as many games as possible and develop as a player. There’s no better feeling than being able to put the match shirt on every week and win as many games as possible."
