Walsall FC's hopes of retaining the services of top-scorer Elijah Adebayo have been further strained as a Championship club have reportedly made a bid to secure his signature.
Adebayo, who is out of contract in the summer, has netted ten goals so far this season - including a brace against near-rivals Port Vale at the weekend - is said to under offer from Huddersfield Town, with the Terriers willing to pay £250,000.
Elijah was recently touted for a move to Scottish Championship leaders Hearts, with their manager Robbie Neilson even going as far as claiming a deal had been reached before ultimately signing former Blackpool man Armand Gnanduillet.
Huddersfield are 14th in the Sky Bet Championship - eleven points off the Play-Off places - and are keen to add to their attacking line-up with Eli said to be high on manager Carlos Corberán's wish list.
With the January Transfer Window set to close at 11.00pm on Monday the club appear to have their work cut out to retain the services of their star striker, especially as finances continue to be tight whilst the club battles against the various pitfalls worsened by Covid-19.
