Scottish Championship side Hearts have reportedly ended their interest in Walsall striker Elijah Adebayo despite recent claims of a verbal agreement being reached.
It remains to be seen whether the forward ultimately joins Hearts in the summer but the Saddlers will no doubt keep working on a new deal as they look to secure the futures of their brightest and best.
Media sources North of the border confirm the Tynecastle side have opted not to continue their pursuit Elijah in favour of former Chesterfield and Blackpool striker Armand Gnanduillet, who has today joined on an 18-month contract.
23-year-old Adebayo, who has netted ten goals this season - including a brace against Port Vale at the weekend - had been the subject of plenty of speculation following the news that Hearts had sought to tie up a deal with the striker.
Elijah, who is out of contract in the summer, was said to have verbally agreed terms with the Scottish outfit but this appears to have been a little premature as Walsall FC insist they remain in tals with the striker over a new deal.
Saddlers manager Darrell Clarke, who became involved in a spat with Hearts boss Robbie Neilson over he and his club's conduct in contacting the player, has maintained Elijah remains part of his plans.
