Walsall Football Club have announced that young midfielder Alfie Bates has become the latest to sign a new contract with the club, keeping him at Banks's Stadium until at least the summer of until 2023.
Walsall boss Darrell Clarke was also happy to see Bates sign a new deal. Speaking via the club's official website, the gaffer said; "We’re really pleased Alfie has signed a new contract with the club.
The 19-year-old has made forty-six first-team appearances for the Saddlers in all competitions since he made his debut against Middlesbrough Under-21s in October 2018.
Coventry-born Bates, who spent time with Birmingham City before arriving in WS1, has two goals to his name, scoring in the Emirates FA Cup against Darlington and away at Scunthorpe United during the 2019/20 season.
"He’s still a young player who’s developing well having come through the Academy and he’s a great lad to work with."
