Walsall midfielder Liam Kinsella has spoken ahead of this weekend's League Two clash between the Saddlers and Cheltenham Town and insisted spirits are still high despite a recent run of defeats.
Liam continued; "I think they are first and third so you want to play against the big boys.
The Saddlers have lost their last three all-competition outings and will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on third-placed Cheltenham Town on Saturday afternoon.
Kinsella, who will be looking to make his sixteenth appearance of the season as the Saddlers travel to Gloucestershire tomorrow, insisted the team still retain a positive mindset, despite the recent defeat to bottom-of-the-table Southend United.
Speaking via the club's official website, Liam said; "The mood will never go with the bunch of lads we have here, we’re always confident.
"We all know that we should be higher up in the table than we are now but it hasn’t happened at the moment.
"Fingers crossed, in the next few games we can put in big performances to get the points we need.
"We’re the type of team where we’ve got to look forward and up the table. We want to be further up the table than we are and that’s what we’re going to do.
"We’ll take it game by game, Cheltenham on Saturday and fingers crossed we can get the three points and move up the table."
Walsall face two difficult away games over the next four days, with trips to title-chasing Cheltenham and Newport County, and Kinsella admitted the team will need to be at their best but they are looking forward to the challenge.
"Both teams have had very good starts to the season but the confidence in our team and our group of lads, I feel like we can go somewhere and put in a performance to get the points we deserve but we need to turn up on the day.
"We need a big performance to a man and hopefully it will come."
