We are saddened to learn of the passing of former Walsall wing-half Ken Hill, who has died at the age of 82.
We would like to pass on our sincere condolences to Ken's family, friends and fans during this sad time.
Born in Walsall on Thursday, 28th April 1938, Ken was a talented footballer from a young age and played for both the North Walsall Boys and North Walsall Schools football teams.
Hill worked on the railways after leaving school and began his football career in local amateur leagues eventually earning a deal with the Saddlers in November 1956 after being spotted playing for Bescot United.
Ken would go on to make his first-team debut in February 1959, when he was named in the Walsall side which faced Hartlepools United in League Division Four - the match ending in a goalless draw.
Hill went on to make a total of 141 appearances for the Saddlers, scoring one goal, before joining Norwich City for £17,000 in 1963.
Ken left the Canaries and returned to the Saddlers in 1966 and would return to and remain in his hometown long after hanging up his boots.
