Walsall manager Darrell Clarke spoke to members of the local press, including BBC Radio WM, following the Saddlers' Emirates FA Cup - First Round defeat to one of his former sides, Bristol Rovers.
The Saddlers endured a poor first-half and reached the break with a two goal deficit. The second-half was much-improved and, despite Caolan Lavery's fourth goal of the season, the damage had been done with the visitors securing a place in the Second Round by two-goals-to-one.
Clarke, who had previously challenged his team to give the game all they had, admitted to being disappointed as his side controlled much of the match but were once again unable to take their chances as they went out of the cup.
The gaffer went on to insist his team probably deserved to take the match to extra-time but were disappointingly poor in front of goal with Lavery's goal the only one to come from their endeavours.
