Tuesday evening saw the majority of clubs in League Two play their ninth game of the 2020/21 league campaign.
League leaders Newport County continued their strong start to the season with a 2-1 win over Colchester United whilst second-placed Cambridge United continued their pursuit of the Exiles with a two-nil win over Walsall.
Forest Green Rovers moved up to third with a narrow 1-0 win over Grimsby Town with Carlisle United also moving up the table after securing the win over Morecambe. The Cumbrians winning 3-1 at Brunton Park.
As Scunthorpe United were not in action following a series of positive coronavirus test results, bottom of the table Southend United had an opportunity to move off the foot of the table as they took on Oldham Athletic at Roots Hall.
Sadly for the Shrimpers they were unable to take advantage of their relegation rivals' issues as the Latics won by two-goals-to-one, moving themselves ever so slightly away from the basement battle.
