Clarke admitted he was pleased with his team's performance but disappointed to take just a point as they were held to a one-all draw by Colchester United at Banks's Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Heading into the match on the back of last weekend's disappointing display against Forest Green Rovers, the Saddlers entered a much-improved performance as they took the game to Steve Ball's Colchester.
Despite their dominance Walsall fell behind after twenty-four minutes of the first-half as Callum Harriott slotted home before Elijah Adebayo's deflected strike levelled the scores eight minutes into the second forty-five.
Creating seventeen shots compared to last Saturday's two, the still undefeated in the league Saddlers were unlucky not to take all three points something the manager acknowledge during his post-match natter.
Speaking to the assembled media, Darrell said; "I’m a lot more pleased with the performance than I was last week, if we play that game again we win the game.
"We have to be a little bit more ruthless at both ends of the pitch, still plenty to work on, but I thought some of our football was very good.
"Good connections over the pitch, a handful, always trying to win the game, so something to build on. We work loads of different patterns and try and give teams other things to think about.
"Being very respectful of Colchester as well because they can hurt you on the counter attack, they have plenty of pace in the team.
"They got their goal on the counter attack with a bit of slack play from ourselves. In general, pleased with the performance but disappointed with only a point."
