Walsall manager Darrell Clarke admitted his team committed 'daylight robbery' as they took a point from their awayday clash with Forest Green Rovers on Saturday afternoon.
The Saddlers managed just two shots over the course of the game with only one, Caolan Lavery's fourteenth-minute goal, hitting the target as they entered a disappointing display at the New Lawn.
Clarke, who made a couple of changes to his side following their midweek EFL Trophy clash with Chelsea Under-21s, felt his side was lucky to take a point as they rode their luck as Forest Green notched over twenty shots as they went in search of a match-winning goal.
Although the home side did level the scores via Jamille Matt shortly after the hour mark, they failed to grab another as stopper Liam Roberts entered a solid display despite his teammates poor showing.
Speaking to the assembled media shortly after full-time, Clarke admitted; "That was daylight robbery, we were shocking.
"We produced one moment of quality for the goal but that was it and, for me, we were nowhere near good enough - I don’t mind admitting it was a very lucky point.
"The players know how I feel about that and we were just miles off our performance levels.
"We rode our luck at times, some of our play was poor, and apart from the quality for the goal we were slack in possession and we were slack without the ball.
"Robbo did well in goal but overall we maybe had three or four players who were half decent and that was about it.
"There were no real positives to take from the game apart from getting a point away from home against a good team.
"For the majority of the games we have played this season I feel we have been the better team so when we haven’t I will take the point."
