Walsall manager Darrell Clarke has spoken to the local press and praised the club's supporters for their reaction to the news that they won't be able to watch their team in person for the foreseeable future.
As the nation continues to battle against Covid-19 it was recently confirmed that the pilot scheme that saw a small number of fans return to stadiums would be suspended indefinitely, putting many clubs' plans on hold for an unknown length of time.
Clarke also sought to thank the supporters for their universally positive response to the recently announced Season Ticket compensation packages, as the club continues to battle against the various pitfalls of playing games behind closed doors.
The manager feels there is a great feeling of togetherness between the club and its fans and believes the players have an extra incentive to do well and reward fans by securing as many points as possible.
Along with allowing the club to keep their Season Ticket money fans have also been donating to a recently set up JustGiving page where supporter Rob Harvey is seeking to raise an initial £5,000 to help the club through the crisis.
"I've said it in every football club that I've managed, these are the heartbeat of the communities.
"Managers come and go, players come and go but it's the supporters' football club and that's what it is up and down the country.
"It's really touching to see the number of supporters that we have pulling together and trying their best to try and help the football club.
"It's important that we're all doing our part. Everyone is playing their part and has the best interests at heart to make sure we survive through this.
"That togetherness is what I try to build at football clubs, the chairman is the same, and it seems to me that we have a hell of a lot of supporters that are fully behind that and the support they've given us is absolutely fantastic. It's very much appreciated."
