Walsall midfielder Liam Kinsella has taken part in Zoom chats with members of the local media and spoken of his desire to play as many games as possible as he begins his seventh season as a professional.
Liam, who made forty first-team appearances during the curtailed 2019/20 campaign, also discussed his belief that the club can have a successful season as they look to build upon last season season's mid-table finish.
The Saddlers opened their 2020/21 campaign with cup clashes with Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol Rovers before starting their league season with a win over Grimsby Town and will be looking to add to that victory this weekend.
Colchester-born Kinsella went on to talk about the competition for places, particularly in midfield where he is joined by the likes of Alfie Bates, Stuart Sinclair and Danny Guthrie along with first-year pros Sam Perry and Joe Willis.
Speaking via the club's official website, Liam said; "Every season I want to play as much as I can and play more than last season.
"I want to be successful and go into the season being a successful team and I feel like we can do that with the bunch of lads we have.
"There's competition for places all over the pitch and wherever you're playing it pushes you to be that next level.
"They're coming back from knocks now so there's a lot of competition for places. If you play you have to play well because you know someone is breathing down your neck to take the shirt."
Liam then went on to talk about this weekend's opponents Harrogate Town and praised the recently-promoted side for their opening day victory over Southend United, which saw then net four unanswered goals to secure their first points as a league side.
The 24-year-old former Republic of Ireland Under-19 and Under-21 international continued; "To be newly promoted and winning four-nil, you look at it.
"I watched them against West Brom and they put on a really good performance so we're expecting a good battle against them, we'll see what happens.
"They look a good team, solid. But we're confident in ourselves and confident we can go there and put on a performance."
