Walsall striker Caolan Lavery has spoken ahead of this evening's EFL Trophy - Southern Group D clash with Chelsea Under-21s and insisted the Saddlers squad are all on the same page.
The 27-year-old former Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United striker believes the team is in a good place and are keen to secure as many points as they can during the opening stages of the season.
Lavery, who is yet to open his account for the season, is keen to get into double figures like he did last season, but admitted that competition for places is tough as he looks to keep on improving his overall game.
Speaking via the Express & Star, Caolan said; "We have a good settled squad now, and we’re all on the same page in terms of how the gaffer wants us to play and what he expects from us.

"It’s put us in a good place for the start of the season and hopefully we can get as many positive results as we can, and we’ll see where it takes us.
"I want to do more and score more but to get double figures was nice and the competition we have here is good.
"I’m looking forward to kicking on again this season. As a player and a person you always want to improve year by year."
