Replacing former long-standing chairman Jeff Bonser, who had been part of the club for over thirty years, Leigh and his fellow board members have made great strides towards bridging the often cavernous gap between the club and its supporters.
A continuation of the Working Party Meetings - something which was championed by Leigh even before his takeover - regular columns in the matchday programme and an increase in interviews both with the press and on the club's official channels, the chairman continues to reach out to the fans, and is sure to continue to do so as we prepare for the 2020/21 campaign.
Despite the club suffering relegation to the fourth tier in the months leading up to his takeover, it has been a solid year under Leigh as the Walsall-born former Blue Coat School pupil continues to live the dream of many-a-Saddler.
Following decades of secrecy and silence, which played a major role in many supporters' decision to stay at home, the club now seems much more open, much more willing to listen to its fans.
Whilst there is plenty more that can, will and must be done, it would be difficult for even the most reclusive of stayaways to deny the level of impact the new chairman has had upon the club in such a short space of time. And we can't wait to see what the next year brings!
