Manager Darrell Clarke has already confirmed his desire to add some quality to his squad before the 2020/21 campaign gets underway, so the latest rumour to make its way to social media will do little to please him as it would see one of his most prized assets depart.
Reports suggest that this season's top-scorer Josh Gordon, who bagged twelve goals from forty first-team appearances in 2019/20, is being tracked by a small number of clubs as rival managers also seek to strengthen their sides.
25-year-old Gordon, a former Leicester City prospect who joined the Saddlers under manager Dean Keates in August 2018, has built a promising strike partnership with Elijah Adebayo and is unsurprisingly attracting attention from elsewhere.
The reports have linked Burton Albion, Fleetwood Town and Milton Keynes Dons with a move for Gordon, although the striker is said to be happy to remain with the Saddlers as he continues to make the most of his spell of first-team football.
Clearly there will be many rumours making the rounds over the coming weeks and months, and, as always, we're likely to see a very small number of them turn out to be accurate. Hopefully this will be just another minor link that goes absolutely nowhere.
