Club Thankful as Supporters Groups Raise Over £10,000 During Coronavirus Lock-Down

Walsall Football Club have today (Tuesday) released a statement thanking Saddlers supporters groups for their fundraising efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over £10,000 has been donated to the club from Walsall FC Supporters Trust, Independent Saddlers Supporters Association and Walsall Supporters Club Travel Section.

ISSA have raised over £5,000 for the Bescot Bar project, while Walsall Supporters Club Travel Section have kindly donated £4,000 that will go towards the Community Hub project at the Banks’s Stadium.

Elsewhere, the Supporters Trust have raised over £1,000 through the 50/50 Draw, which will continue with the Bonus Ball Draw on Saturday 20th June and a further draw in July.

Speaking via the club's official website, Walsall Chairman Leigh Pomlett was delighted to receive the donation and was keen to show his gratitude. He said; "I’d like to thank the Travel Section, Walsall Football Club Supporters Trust, ISSA and all Walsall supporters who have rallied round during these difficult times.

"We’ve been really touched by the support we have received and it is greatly appreciated. That unity and togetherness is exactly what our football club is all about."

The Travel Section's Secretary Michael Eyre was pleased the organisation were in a position to make such a substantial donation, he said; "I’m privileged on behalf of the Travel Section to donate £4,000 to Walsall Football Club.

"The donation is what the Travel Section is all about, not just providing travel to away games but making a profit over the season in aid of Walsall FC.

"We’re looking forward to next season and hope that when we are allowed to watch football in the stadium again, to present the club with a cheque on the pitch."

Dave Beckett from ISSA said; "It has been an honour raising and passing on the funds to the club for the Bescot Bar, and we can't wait to see the finished product. It's a credit to ISSA’s membership that £5100 was raised in just two weeks.

"ISSA will continue to support the club with fresh initiatives. As I said, it's an honour for all involved with ISSA to be able to give something back to our beloved club during this very uncertain time.

"We are now well underway with our next project and that is to provide the club with a brand new mini bus, sponsored by ISSA, in conjunction with our commercial partners. The chairman and board of directors will continue to receive the full backing of ISSA."

Steve Davies from Walsall FC Supporters Trust added; "We appreciate the work Leigh Pomlett and the backroom staff are putting in on our behalf as fans and every little helps our club to hit the ground running next season.

"It has given fans the chance to support the club where they can, from as little as £1. We would like to thank all fans who have supported the 50/50 and upcoming Bonus Ball draw."
