Managed by supporter Ryan Duckhouse, the Saddlers earned their place in Round Two thanks to a two-nil victory over AFC Wimbledon, the Dons immediately sacking boss Rob Turvey as his side failed to lay a glove on Walsall.
This afternoon's match saw Walsall come up against Karlan Grant's Huddersfield Town, the striker guiding his side to a 1-0 win over Oldham Athletic, the Terriers amassing over forty shots on goal over the course of their opening game.
The Saddlers suffered a major setback in the first-half as they were reduced to ten men, midfielder Liam Kinsella seeing red shortly before the midway point in the first forty-five.
And the Saddlers were almost dealt a double blow as the Terriers were awarded a penalty in the first-half, but thankfully manager Karlan Grant's alter-ego was unable to slot home as the ball went wide of goal.
Despite being down to ten men the Saddlers had a few openings of their own but were ultimately defeated as a goal from on-loan Benfica forward Chris Willock proved to be enough to send Grant's side through to the Third Round.
