Wes McDonald Keen to Get Back to Work Following Rare Weekend Off

Walsall winger Wes McDonald has spoken to club journalists and admitted he is looking forward to Saturday’s game against title-chasing Exeter City after last weekend's clash with Stevenage was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
The meeting between Walsall and bottom-of-the-table Boro was a victim of Storm Jorge as the pitch at the Lamex Stadium was deemed unplayable by referee Scott Duncan opted to call the game off following a pitch inspection.

Wes, who has made thirty-four club appearances since arriving on a free transfer last summer admitted he is desperate to get back on the pitch and was disappointed to see last weekend's game called off.

The 22-year-old went on to affirm that he is already re-focused ahead of the upcoming clash with the third-placed Grecians, insisting he and his teammates are looking to upset the odds as they take on title-chasing opposition.

Speaking via the club's official website, Wes said; "I was looking forward to playing Stevenage. I wanted to get a good three points away from home but that’s gone now and we need to crack on and move on to the next one.

"I’m looking forward to the game against Exeter and we’re looking to get that win."

Despite being gifted a rare weekend without a game Wes revealed he still kept active by going on an extended jog before taking part in high-tempo training sessions with the rest of the Saddlers squad on Monday morning.

Wes added; "I like to stay active because we would have been playing that day so I went for a jog to keep the mileage up and keep myself ticking.

"Training was a lot more intense on Monday too. We had an in-house game so we’re getting the mileage into the boys’ legs which is good."
